Glitter Ball: A Studio 54, Disco Drag Inspired Event
We were absolutely thrilled when Lee Forrest of Lee Forrest Design and Cathie Ashby of Dubsdread Catering chose to celebrate their 15 Years of Success with a glitter-fied 70’s themed bash in Heaven! With plans of vintage disco balls, hanging floral arrangements, live performances and aerial artists, we were so excited to see our blank canvas space transformed into a chic, twisted discotheque.
The first round of surprises was hand-delivered via costumed greeters in the form of a giant blue box. Inside the lid of the box, a small disco ball hung instantly setting the tone for the event to follow. Within the beautiful packaging was an invitation like no other. A large card containing the event details and mirror laid inside, however the details were printed backwards so that the only way to read it was through the mirror! Giant blue boxes were being delivered all across Orlando to the area’s wedding & event industry. Social media lit up with people posting their invites, generating buzz and excitement for the Glitter Ball.
elaborate decor took two days to set up. White parasols, floral arrangements and vintage disco balls hung throughout our loft ceilings for an eye-catching display. A giant stage was set in the center of our Main Banquet Hall with an equally large black & white checkered dance floor provided by Orlando Wedding & Party Rentals. White go-go dancer platforms and our leather sofas added the perfect touch to create the disco-club vibe. Across the venue, our Secondary Banquet became the “chill room” featuring more lounge furniture, a chocolate fountain with sweet treats, and an incredible Statue of David replica with an ice luge created by Ice Pro.
The entrance to the Glitter Ball was tented with a white walkway and white carpet, flanked with beautiful floral peacocks by Lee Forrest. Illuminating Magic projected a spinning disco ball on the front of our building for a truly unforgettable entrance. Once inside, guests were welcomed by costumed greeters on roller skates ushering everyone into the party. Disco hits filled the air, spun by Les of Soundwave Entertainment. Party Flavors did an amazing job creating the perfect cake for Lee & Cathie keeping true to the Glitter Ball theme with a disco ball cake topper. Mini Lee & Cathie figurines completed the whimsical design.
As the party raged on, talented vocalists took to the stage belting out classic disco hits, followed by Meka Nism, a melodic five piece metal band. Performer, Kyle Vest entertained guests with daring aerial hoop acts. The high-energy dance floor was full with guests and performers alike, enjoying glitter jello shots and appetizers by Dubsdread Catering. LED cocktail tables and furniture accented the space, provided by Orlando and Wedding Party Rentals. Everyone had an incredible time celebrating with Lee & Cathie, and their wildly fun party won’t soon be forgotten. Cheers to Lee & Cathie’s 15 Years of ‘Insanity’!
